Bank Details release new single ‘Undone’

by Reb Jordin

Bank Details, a Leeds based four-piece alternative rock band, released their debut single ‘Undone’ on March 22nd . It is clear from their first song alone that Bank Details as a band are focused just as much on the artistry behind their instruments as the carefully crafted lyrics they have graced us with, which is refreshing in a time of over produced music with
unoriginal melodies and simple lyrics. The single definitely lives up to the high standards their impressive live performances have set.

‘Undone’ opens with pounding drums and a beautifully relentless base line before
introducing a shredding guitar riff to the mix, all merging together to create an angsty tone. The cacophony of instruments builds up into the abstract lyrics which form the beating heart of the song. The standout lyrics found in the first verse are, ‘all these little pieces caught into my feet, try walking on eggshells it’s hard to be discrete, to small to pick them up, but to big to leave.’ This moment is reminiscent of tiptoeing around the fragility of a person you care about as you are wholly possessed by their being to the point of manipulation. Bank Details conveys the relatable feeling of being consumed by another until the relationship eventually unravels perfectly within ‘Undone’, leaving the listener impressed by the depth of their first single and strongly anticipating another.

Just by listening to the passionate vocals and booming instruments through the safety-net of
your headphones, you are transported to a sweaty music venue where endless bodies are stuffed in together all jumping up and down and dancing in time to the thumping beat,
shaking the walls and spilling many cheap drinks. We are further immersed in this
powerhouse atmosphere through the killer bridge which house the lyrics, ‘do you think this is all worthwhile, these fragments of your style?’ These vulnerable words ask the listener the question, is it worth changing yourself for the sake of another person? For the most part transforming yourself to fit the image of another is a waste of time which is a picture painted throughout the whole of ‘Undone’. The single closes just as it opened, completing the
satisfying cyclical structure of drums, base, electric guitar, a formula reminiscent of the greats before them whilst blessing our ears with a sprinkling of their own originality also.

So go and give ‘Undone’ a listen now and experience the passionate and exciting
atmosphere for yourself. As we anticipate what comes next for Bank Details go and catch them at one of their live performances to experience their music in its greatest, truest form.
