Odie Leigh’s new single is an ‘escape into the tranquility of newfound love’

Odie Leigh, a Louisiana based indie folk singer songwriter, recently released her single
‘Either Way’ on March 21st to the excitement of her fans. Gaining a rapid fan base in 2020 via social media platforms during the pandemic, Odie Leigh has continued to grow as an artist into this new era she’s currently laying the groundworks for. Her single ‘Either Way’ conveys a beautiful love story to the listener, where both partners intentions are pure, and we can smile into the sunlight of their seemingly healthy new relationship.

The song opens with the deeply rich tones of Odie Leigh immediately, only accompanied by a stripped back acoustic guitar leading the listeners full attention to the meaning behind the carefully crafted lyrics. Stand out lyrics from the songs beginning are, ‘you’re obsessed with not hurting me, I’m obsessed either way’ which explore the early stages of infatuation where both partners want to do what’s right for the other whilst also struggling to not get lost in the labyrinth of their new feelings.

‘Either Way’ is a love song which grows from its understated beginning into a kaleidoscope of beating drums and a joyful guitar, reminiscent of the revelry which accompanies the spring of a blossoming love. The chorus graces us with the lyrics, ‘do you wanna know me like I wanna know you?’ This moment presents the uncertainty which haunts newfound love as we try and navigate the thoughts and feelings of another person for the first time. These vulnerable words convey to the listener the passionate nature of love and what it manipulates us to do.

As we enter the second verse the music is once again stripped back to allow the listeners full attention to follow the lyrics. Accompanied by a punchy bass riff Odie Leigh sings, ‘I’m buying a house you can move in too, I’ll pay off the mortgage with songs about you’ which reveal the intimate aspects of the love she is telling the story of. ‘Either Way’ feels like an escape into the tranquillity of newfound love like the first slow dance serenaded by the salt-laced breeze of a midsummer night.

So go and give ‘Either Way’ a listen now and enjoy the bliss it creates within the positive and hopeful nature of the song. Odie Leigh will also be heading back to the UK for a couple of shows so be sure not to miss it.
