Picture Parlour release new single ‘Talk About It’

by Rachel Amarille

Picture Parlour have released their latest belter of a single, “Talk About It.” Springing onto the scene with singles “Norwegian Wood” and “Judgement Day,” and their brilliant EP, Face In the Picture, the band have certainly proven themselves capable time and time again, to the point that it’s impossible to imagine how they could possibly outdo themselves. Yet, they have.

A bit more introspective than its preceding two singles, “Talk About It” still retains Picture Parlour’s signature sound — smoky vocals, a stuttering heartbeat of a drumline, and dramatic guitars — something classic, yet new. On first listen, it’s immediately nostalgic, like something stolen from a parallel universe in which it’s a song everyone grew up hearing.

Speaking of the track, the band said in their mailing list, “You can bring a horse to water but who knows if it’s going to drink? So instead we fucked off the horse and wrote an anthem for letting go. And now we want to share that euphoria with you.” And indeed they have. “Talk About It” is pure catharsis. Fitting for its release at the peak of Summer, the song is built for throwing caution to the wind and letting go. It’s instantly captivating, with a catchy guitar riff that sinks its hooks into your brain and simply refuses to leave.

“Talk About It” follows “Who’s There To Love Without You” and “Cielo Drive” in Picture Parlour’s latest lineup of singles, making for an incredibly promising start to whatever the band have lined up next.
