Sam Fender unleashes a perfect blend of sound and surprise with ‘Talk To You’ featuring Elton John

by Cara Maclean

On Friday 17th October, Sam Fender presented us with a brand new single, ‘Talk To You’. After teasing the song for weeks on his North American tour, he has finally released the song into the world.

The announcement followed sightings of various billboards cropping up around the country, teasing the single as a collaboration and the possibility of a deluxe version of his third studio album, ‘People Watching’.

Various names such as Lewis Capaldi, Grian Chatten (frontman of Irish rock band, Fontaines DC) and Aaron Rowe were speculated to be featured on the track. However, it was soon evident who the mystery artist may be when Fender took to socials saying he was “Honoured to have my (his) good friend playing piano on ‘Talk To You’. People quickly caught on to whom this was, and it was unmistakably none other than Elton John.

‘Talk To You’ was welcomed into the world nicely alongside a well deserved hometown win for himself and the band at the prestigious ‘Mercury Prize Awards’ which was held outside London and in Newcastle for the first time ever.

From the euphonious guitar riff, to the drive of the drums, Fender’s band continuously prove they are a force to be reckoned with. With long term band members such as Tom Ungerer on bass, Dean Thompson and Joe Atkinson on sampler and synthesiser, Drew Micheal on drums and percussion and Johnny ‘Bluehat’ Davis on Saxophone as well as latest addition to the band, Brooke Bentham who endlessly provides angelic backing vocals, we have yet again been left with another astounding track by Sam Fender.

The single is in lead up to his deluxe release of ‘People Watching’ which will be out December 5th.
